International Folkloric Dance Club
The International Folkloric Dance Club celebrates the beauty of cultures around the world through the art of traditional dance. The term “Baile Folclórico” represents a variety of cultural dances that blend elements of ballet with vibrant expressions of international traditions.
Our goal is to introduce students to the fundamentals of folkloric dance while exploring the rich cultural heritage of different countries. Students practice daily from 7:15 to 7:45 a.m., building discipline, teamwork, and confidence as they prepare to perform at school and community events.
Through this program, we envision students not only learning about global traditions but also sharing their knowledge and leadership with younger peers — truly living the spirit of “Be a Leader in Me.”
During the Fall Festival 2025, our talented dancers performed three captivating folk dances:
-
Waka Waka – A lively fusion of African and Latin cultures.
-
Arabic Dance – A graceful women’s traditional dance from the Gulf region, known for its slow, rhythmic movements and expressive hair sways.
-
Xique Punta – A joyful Honduran Creole folk dance featuring the signature “xique” step with a waltz rhythm.
Looking ahead, our dancers are preparing additional performances inspired by the cultures of Turkey and Turkmenistan, to be showcased on December.
The International Folkloric Dance Club is an ongoing program open to all TMSA students who wish to celebrate culture, community, and creativity through dance.
Join us and be part of this colorful cultural journey!
